HM Lord-Lieutenant salutes ARA’s culture of innovation and collaboration
HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis praised Aircraft Research Association as “a global leader in their field” after a visit and tour of the company on Wednesday 11 October.
ARA is one of the world’s leading providers of aerodynamic design and analysis services to the worldwide aerospace industry with approximately 50% of its’ business being exported. ARA regularly hosts customers from across the world, providing investment into the Bedford economy.
Accompanied by ARA’s Chief Executive, Robert Bosher, the Lord-Lieutenant was given a tour of the facilities and demonstration of some of the latest wind tunnel measurement and model manufacturing techniques implemented at ARA. During the visit the Lord Lieutenant spoke to many staff about the work which they do at ARA.
ARA supports many local education projects, schools and STEM colleges. Also, ARA has a thriving apprentice scheme to develop the next generation of engineers and the Lord-Lieutenant presented Marcus Leach and Umer Mahmood with certificates to mark the completion of their apprenticeships. On behalf of all the apprentices Matthew Holloway presented the Lord-Lieutenant with an aircraft model which they had designed and manufactured as a momento of her visit.
The Lord-Lieutenant said “ARA is a global leader in their field and have a culture of innovation and collaboration which impacts across the world. It is a privilege that this important organisation chooses to locate in Bedford at the centre of our esteemed aerospace cluster”.
ARA Chief Executive Robert Bosher said “It was a pleasure to show HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire the work which we do at ARA and, in her role as Bedfordshire Business Ambassador, discuss how ARA works with other local aerospace and engineering companies in promoting Bedfordshire as a centre of technical excellence. We were very honoured to host the Lord-Lieutenant and delighted that she took such a keen interest in the work which we do.”
