Due to ongoing heavy demand, we have exciting opportunities for talented engineers in the fields of data acquisition, instrumentation, software and control systems to join the wind tunnel group, in support of the commercial operation of the Transonic Wind Tunnel.
The wind tunnel group depends on a variety of electro-mechanical/hydraulic systems and test rigs for its day to day operation. Additionally, the wind tunnel models and specialist rigs tested at ARA incorporate advanced sensors, instrumentation and control systems, which are specified, developed and installed by a dedicated team within the wind tunnel group.
The roles available cover the specification and development of new instrumentation, sensor, data acquisition and control systems, while also maintaining and enhancing legacy systems. Maintaining a thorough understanding of the design, implementation and operation of those systems, and taking an active involvement in developing a long term plan for their enhancement, will be a key task for the successful applicants.
We are looking for a range of candidates who relish the opportunity to see a project through from initial concepts to final implementation; who are able to take leading roles in multi-functional teams; but who are also able to deliver small projects on their own.
You will typically be able to design, develop, implement and verify your own systems solutions to bespoke applications, using sound engineering methodology to manage risk and technical progress against the project plan. You will also be comfortable working with legacy systems, and reverse engineering where necessary, to model, adapt and document system design and implementation. You will have developed and supported real time embedded systems solutions.
Opportunities range from recent graduate level to experienced engineers working at section leader level.
Excellent interpersonal skills are required for this role with the ability to work at all levels within the business, on technically challenging activities to deliver solutions within tight timescales, specific quality standards and budgetary constraints.
