Junior Accounts Assistant

Aircraft Research Association (ARA) is a unique SME and the UK’s leading independent transonic wind tunnel with a passionate workforce of engineering and aerodynamic professionals. We are a leading specialist in aerodynamic research providing complementary services and solutions to international aerospace and defence clients. Our clients include Saab, Bombardier, Boeing, Turkish Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, Airbus, Comac and BAE Systems.

Typical projects include producing scaled-down military and civilian aircraft models, comprising multiple parts, which are assembled together and used as highly accurate forces/pressures measuring devices within the on-site high-speed (transonic) wind tunnel.


Due to internal promotion we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Accounts Assistant to join our ARA team, reporting to the Assistant Finance Business Partner.

Salary:  £25,000 – £28,000 per annum, depending upon experience

Typical Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week

This is a varied and demanding role and it involves a number of duties and responsibilities including:

  • Accounts payable activities, processing invoices, creating payment runs and associated admin tasks including archiving.
  • Reconciling supplier statements to SAP
  • Administering, processing and managing the Barclaycard expenses
  • Assisting the Senior accountant with accounting activities including, prepayments and accruals, revaluations.
  • Processing bank related transactions.
  • Working with the commercial team to administer aged debtors.
  • Working with the procurement team to administer aged creditors.
  • Any other tasks in order to assist the wider finance teams.
  • Supporting Audits.

What we are looking for in you

  • Actively studying towards AAT, studying support will be provided.
  • Hands on approach.
  • Able to work in a team.
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize workload.
  • Some knowledge of Excel is required although training will be given
